Recital F.A.Q.’s

You are here: Home / Recital / Recital F.A.Q.’s

Have questions about the recital? Here are some common ones.

Does my dancer participate in the show on Saturday AND Sunday?

Yes – all classes, Pre Ballet 3 and older, participate in both performances. This gives the dancers two opportunities to showcase their choreography and shine on stage. The Pre Ballet 2 Saturday and the Pre Ballet 2/3 Wednesday dancers are the only groups that participate in one show.

When do we come to the theatre?

Dancers should arrive 30 minutes before the recital is scheduled to begin. One parent will escort them to the change room area (Gym 2 at John Ross High School), and the other family members and guests can find their seats in the theatre.

How long are the shows?

The shows are approximately an hour and a half long, with a curtain call at the end. Once the music is compiled, I will share a firmer show length the week before the show.

What does my dancer do while they’re not on stage?

They wait in the changing room area. We’ll have a movie playing, and we encourage them to bring toys and books to help pass the time. They’ll have a lot of fun backstage together—this is where the memories are made.

How do they wear their hair for the show?

Hair is listed in the “What you need for the show” document unless specifically requested by the teacher. Go to Recital Downloads https://guelphdance.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/What-you-need-for-the-show-2025.pdf

My dancer is in multiple classes. Which costume do they wear first?

We have a show order and quick change list posted on the studio’s bulletin board. You are free to take a photo of the order to help your dancer stay organized.

Will there be people backstage to help change if they are in more than one dance?

Yes, we have incredible volunteers, assistants, alumni, and faculty members who will help your dancer get changed and have their hair done.

How do I become volunteer at the show?

THANK YOU – we always need volunteers backstage at the show, and would love to have you! You can Sign up to volunteer here. If you have any issues, please email Briana.

Are there classes during dress rehearsals?

Due to dress rehearsals, from Monday, May 12th, to Thursday, May 15th, there will be no classes at the studio. The faculty and I will be at the theatre for the rehearsals.

Are there classes over the Victoria Day long weekend?

No, the studio will be closed and classes will not run from Friday, May 16th, to Monday, May 19th.

Can I buy tickets the day of the recital?

Yes – we will keep the box office open until the final show on Sunday. Buy tickets here

Will there be flowers for sale at the theatre?

Yes – we are partnering with Dancing Flowers. Pre-order flowers here

When are the photos taken?

Bean Film will set up residency at the studio from Monday, May 5th to Saturday, May 10th, and photos will be taken during the dancer’s regular class time.

Can I get a DVD or Blu-Ray copy of the show?

DVD and Blu-Ray orders can be made here.
